Brief History of J.B. Charitable Trust & its Schools
M.R.A Senior Secondary Model School Sector 27-A Chandigarh, M.R.A Modern Public School Sector-7 Panchkula (Both affiliated to C.B.S.E. Delhi) are run by J.B. Charitable Trust which was founded by two philanthropist brothers Sarvshri Jhanda Mal and Sarvshri Bihari Lal Mahajan in the sacred memory of their revered father Sh. Moti Ram Mahajan, in Chuharmunda, District Sialkot (West Pakistan)In the year 1924.
After partition the entire credit for starting from scratch and reestablishment of educational institutions goes to its Late President Sh. Hardyal Mahajan (1957 to Nov. 1996) who along with his wife Mrs. Shakuntla Mahajan (Chief Patron of both the Schools) worked hard with utmost devotion and dedication to further the cause of education and are responsible for bringing these institutions to its present stature and eminence. Our President Sh. Anil Mahajan (from December 1996 onwards) is carrying on the task of education, under his stewardship with the same zeal and vigour.
Dignitaries such as Sh. N.V. Gadgil, the Governor of Punjab. Sh. B.D. Jatti, the then Vice President of India, Dr. Sushila Nayyar the close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Shankar Dyal Sharma, the President of India have visited the institution on different occasions. The school has proud privilege of celebrating Golden Jubilee on 5th Dec., 1974 and Diamond Jubliee on 21st Dec., 1985.
The Management believes in instilling a deep sense of self-respect and discipline amongst the students. The aim is to make the students staunch nationalists and upholders of human dignity, equality and fraternity and in particular that the boys and girls who pass through portals of this institution should be ardent admirer of Indian Culture, heritage and moral values without adjuring the blessing of Western Science and Technology.
